Lord of the Flies Chapters 1 & 2
The first two chapters set the scene for the entire book. We meet all the main characters on the island; we get a glimpse of their personalities and get our first glimpses of the conflict ahead. This is an allegory, the story is a representation of a bigger idea, concept, or truth. As you read, look for that underlying meaning. In the meantime, get to know the characters. Who do you think would be the best leader of the group? Would Jack Merridew, Johnny "Piggy", Ralph, Simon, Sam, Eric, Roger or would one of the other boys be a better leader. What qualities does your choice have that would make him the best choice for a leader?

By the characteristics of Piggy i believe he makes the best leader because he is very intelligent for his age.Also because he shows his concern is of others and not just himself.He even noticed when one of the little kids was missing before anyone else did.I also think it was because of him that they all found eachother since it was his idea to blow the conch.
